The Education Advisory Group includes leading education organizations committed to advancing educational stability and achievement for children and youth involved with the child welfare system. The Education Advisory Group serves as an advisory body to the National Working Group on Foster Care and Education.
Goals
- Promote educational stability and continuity for children and youth involved with the child welfare system.
- Promote educational achievement from cradle to career for children and youth involved with the child welfare system.
- Support education, child welfare, and other systems in closing the achievement gap for children and youth involved with the child welfare system.
Activities
- Serve as a central information-sharing resource for members of the Education Advisory group and its constituencies, federal, state and local education and policy leaders, child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and juvenile/family courts.
- Consult with members of the National Working Group on Foster Care and Education and others who have questions or need guidance about issues related to the education of children and youth involved with the child welfare system.
- Inform and respond to federal, state, and local policies that impact availability of resources needed to implement best practices and policies that support education stability and achievement from cradle to career for children and youth involved with the child welfare system.
